Gel Storage Tip

I ruined a gel this way last August — left it loose in the back pocket of a black jersey for two hours in the sun. By the time I needed it at the top of a climb, it had turned into something I can only describe as hot rubber candy. Kept it out of direct sunlight after that. If you’re riding anywhere warm, an insulated pouch or just keeping gels against your body instead of facing the sun makes a noticeable difference. Not glamorous advice, but it matters when you’re already suffering and the last thing you want is to also gag on your fuel.
